Mel Pedley has worked within the web design sector for over 10 years and specialises in accessible web design. She launched Black Widow Web Design in 2001 and, in recent years, has moved to creating effective, accessible, sites using WordPress.

Mel has worked with a range of organisations and has always delivered tangible business benefits to clients. Her roles have involved everything from the development of completely new sites and systems to the assessment and re-design of existing sites. She also advises both technical web developers and non-technical site owners on web standards and web accessibility issues.

In her spare time, she is an administrator within the Guild of Accessible Web Designers, a member of Team Access at Accessites.org, runs Quirm.net, helps out on the WordPress support forums (username: esmi) and designs new WordPress themes.

She also reads Discworld books and eats chocolate — although not necessarily at the same time.
